Ebuzzing and Schibsted climbing quickly towards the top of France’s most visited sites

Comscore has just released their latest figures and, not surprisingly, the ranking of top general and video sites doesn’t show much movement. When looking at top (general) internet properties, Google sites, Microsoft and Facebook are still far in front of the competition, including Yahoo who remains a distant fourth and virtually tied with Orange, Wikimedia, and CCM-Benchmark (JDN, Linternaute.com, etc) properties. When looking at online video sites, Google (read Youtube) is well ahead of the competition with Dailymotion trailing and Videology just behind.

In the media property world, as mentioned, CCM-Benchmark leads the way and Pagesjaunes, which last month went ‘digital’ becoming Solocal Group, is just behind. The big movement however was that Norwegian media conglomerate Schibsted, which in France owns 20 Minutes.fr and LeBoinCoin.fr, has overtaken Axel Springer (Aufeminin.com, and Seloger.com) and Groupe Lagadère.

Another big mover, this time in terms of online video uniques, was Ebuzzing whose unique visitors jumped 47% over the previous month, reaching almost 8 million unique visitors. As we reported last month, Ebuzzing has been on fire in recent months with a reported 79% increase in year-on-year revenues and an increased US presence in an effort to build on their success there. The Comscore numbers prove that their growth in France is pretty much in pace with their growth elsewhere. I had the opportunity to catch up with Ebuzzing founders, Pierre Chappaz and Bertrand Quesada recently, so stay tuned for highlights and insights from my interview with them.
