In an era where electric vehicles are redefining the automotive landscape, a new British brand aims to shake things up with its innovative approach. Founded in 2023 by former executives from Tesla and Lucid, Longbow has emerged as a niche player in the electric vehicle sector. With the motto “Celeritas Levitas,” meaning “the speed of lightness,” Longbow is committed to creating lightweight sports cars. These vehicles capture the essence of iconic British models like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type. The brand’s first two models, the Speedster and the Roadster, promise to deliver exhilarating driving experiences with a focus on design, performance, and meticulous craftsmanship.

The Features of Speedster and Roadster Models

The Speedster and Roadster embody Longbow’s philosophy, emphasizing lightness and agility. The Speedster, a convertible model, weighs only about 1,973 pounds and can reach 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. With a WLTP range of 275 miles, it promises an unforgettable driving experience. In contrast, the Roadster, with its coupe design, weighs 2,194 pounds and reaches 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, offering a range of 174 miles. These impressive performances are powered by a single motor driving the rear wheels, generating a projected 322 horsepower. However, details about the battery specifications remain undisclosed, leaving enthusiasts with some room for speculation.

The hand-crafted aluminum chassis, produced in the UK, adds to the vehicles’ lightness. Although not made from carbon fiber, it remains remarkably light and robust, even surpassing some compact models like the Mazda Miata. With these features, Longbow is positioning itself as a key player in the electric mobility revolution, responding to the growing demand for driver-focused electric sports cars.

An Artisanal and Innovative Approach

Longbow goes beyond producing high-performance electric cars; it prides itself on offering artisanal quality in every vehicle. Each model is hand-assembled, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and an impeccable finish. This commitment to artisanal quality is crucial for creating cars that are not only high-performing but also aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to drive.

The Speedster and Roadster models, while modern and innovative, draw inspiration from timeless British icons, recreating an emotional connection with the past while looking to the future. The founders of Longbow aspire for their cars to be more than just modes of transportation; they aim to create works of art capable of evoking emotion and rekindling the passion for driving.

Accessibility and Exclusivity

Despite their luxurious design and impressive performance, Longbow cars are not out of reach. The starting price of the Speedster is approximately $92,600, with only 150 units to be produced. Among these, there will be 10 Luminary First Edition models and 25 Autograph Edition models. The Roadster, on the other hand, has a base price of around $70,850, with 100 Autograph Edition models and 50 Luminary 1st Edition models.

These vehicles, while limited in number, are designed to be accessible to driving enthusiasts seeking everyday usable performance rather than supercar-worthy figures. Longbow hopes its cars will attract customers ready to invest in a unique and memorable driving experience.

Future Prospects for Longbow

As Longbow prepares to open its order books, the brand remains secretive about its production facilities and international expansion plans. However, the possibility of importing these vehicles to North America is already generating significant interest. The first units are expected to be delivered in 2026, giving enthusiasts time to prepare for this new era of electric sports cars.

With a clear vision and promising products, Longbow could potentially change the game in the electric car sector. The brand aims to captivate sports car enthusiasts by offering models that compromise neither performance nor driving pleasure while embracing electric innovation.

As Longbow sets out to revolutionize the electric sports car market, one question remains: Will these models set a new standard for the sports cars of the future?

If an electric vehicle isn’t capable of 600 mile range then personally I’m not interested. EV and battery technology isn’t were it needs to be yet if we can’t build affordable vehicles with a range of what the the average person is capable of driving on a freeway in an 8 hour period. We don’t need massive horse power but comfort safety and self during capabilities would be nice.
