Stootie has raised €1.2 Million from Cap Decisif to grow their peer-to-peer marketplace, the startup reported this week. Stootie, which boasts 170,000 users (50,000 active users), has been pushing its marketplace since 2011, hoping to create a marketplace where anyone who needed a hand could ask for it, and anyone who wanted to help could propose their skills online.
The generalist marketplace idea has been a tough sell to make, with many of the skills being verticalized into dedicated professional marketplaces – Hassle.com/Helpling/Handy for house cleaning, for example – however, Stootie seems to have found a comfortable growth that has convinced VCs to get on board.

I’ve talked with the team for about as long as Rude Baguette has been around, and the team has changed a lot since 2011. When I last saw them, they seemed determined to bring an easy experience to mobile for anyone to find or provide anything.
Until now, the product has grown with a very small marketing budget – the injection of capital will allow them to grow their community faster.
