New York- and Paris-based Curioos.com has raised $1.9 Million from private New York investors, the startup announced today. With more than 3000 digital artworks to choose from, with prints starting at just $30, Curioos has grown to become quite the resource among the digital art community, amassing 250K+ followers on Tumblr, and 50K+ followers on Fancy.

Launched in 2011 as a tumblr blog and subsequently as a standalone website, Curioos has become a sort of Label for digital artists, helping artists to distribute their works in limited releases (thus maintaining their value) to collectors & users. Curioos has signed agreements with 100s of artists, allowing users to order a variety of print sizes and forms.

While Curioos managed the printing process in-house originally, they have moved away from this process in the past year, as CEO Mathieu Voloatto told me in an interview last week – they are now partnering with high-quality printers of various types, which will allow them to focus on what they do best – curated great digital art.

The startup has also flipped from being a Paris-based startup to being based in New York City, moving the company’s IP and most of the team to New York, where they have begun integrating into the New York startup scene, as well as the thriving art scene.
