I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but France + AdTech = match made in heaven. Today, Native Advertising Technology startup AdYouLike acquired their UK homologue Content Amp in a multimillion cash + equity acquisition. The Content Amp founders will stay on board AdYouLike, which hopes to solidify its presence in Europe as a AdTech player.
The two startups had a combined turnover of $5 million in 2013 – small in comparison to their American counterpart Sharethrough, who raised a $17M Series C earlier this year. Nonetheless, AdYouLike, who has raised a total of €1.4 Million Series A from Banexi Ventures and Kima Ventures, is coming at a time where AdTech money is hot, and growth possibilities are endless.
Earlier this year, Video advertising startups Teads & eBuzzing merged in an effort to become an end-to-end video advertising solution. Just before that, Criteo acquired Tedemis for €21 Million, giving a strong M&A signal to the adtech ecosystem.
there is clearly opportunity for AdTech companies in Paris, and while consolidation is an inevitability, any one who can stay above water long enough will likely win big. This acquisition between AdYouLike & Content Amp will turn competitors into partners, and likely prevent two small players from eating out of each others plates. I look forward to seeing how they develop across Europe.
