Europe-Big

Twitter has been beefing up its team in Europe in the past year, including some major shifts in Dublin & Paris; while the French startup scene hasn’t been given a social bump despite having Twitter’s head of International Katie Stanton being based in the Paris office, perhaps Twitter’s most recent high-profile hire will do the trick. Jolicloud’s Former Head of Business Development Brenda O’Connell announced via Twitter this week that she has joined the social network, and will be moving to Twitter’s Dublin-based European headquarters.

After acting as the right-hand woman to Jolicloud co-founder Tariq Krim, O’Connell has been leveraging her Irish roots to bring non-profit association Coder Dojo to Paris, in order to help young kids learn to code. Before Jolicloud, O’Connell worked at Wanadoo, which was acquired by Orange, where she worked on the telecom’s various media services (VOD, music streaming, etc.).

Interestingly enough, this isn’t Twitter’s first hire out of Jolicloud. Jolicloud’s CTO & Co-Founder Romain Huet joined Twitter last September as a developer advocate based out of London. Nonetheless, Jolicloud has continued to grow; the personal cloud hub recently passed 1 Million users on its web-based service, and their tight relationship with Google Chrome has made them a fan favorite for Chromebook users.
