Scientifeet: Au service des Podologues

 

Les podologues, vous connaissez?

Ils étudient vos pieds et traitent les pathologies en lien avec la structure de ceux-ci.

Parfois, il confectionnent des semelles dites orthopédiques. C’est un procédé artisanal: les semelles sont généralement faites de superpositions de couches de mousses.

Certains ont également opté pour une technique plus récente: le thermoformage.

 

De l’artisanat à l’impression 3D

 

Et puis il y a Nicolas St Lô. Il est podologue mais il est aussi terriblement technophile. Les premières imprimantes 3D font leur apparition et Nicolas se dit qu’imprimer les semelles plutôt que de les coller serait sûrement un progrès notable. Et ce serait inédit. Alors il installe une imprimante dans son cabinet et teste, et teste, et teste…

Le travail du podologue ne se résume pas à la confection de semelles. Pour être adaptées, la confection doit faire suite à un diagnostic précis et répondre à des objectifs pertinents. L’impression 3D arrive après.

Nicolas aurait pu rester dans son cabinet et simplifier son quotidien avec son imprimante mais il voit plus loin: permettre aux autres podologues d’avoir recours à l’impression 3D en lieu et place de pratiques très artisanales. En France, environ 13 000 podologues nous aident à mieux marcher mais cette profession est très peu mature technologiquement parlant. 

 

Les rencontres qui changent tout

 

En 2015, Nicolas rencontre les équipes de Prodways, pépite de la FrenchTech, leader en impression 3D. Prodways utilise une technologie 3D innovante, la SLS (ou frittage de poudre) et est propriétaire de la matière première. C’était désormais une évidence, Prodways et Nicolas feraient route ensemble, adossés au Groupe Gorgé, leader dans le déploiement des très hautes technologies.

Mais le plus gros reste à faire: développer l’outil diagnostique, le logiciel de conception de semelle puis travailler sur la réalisation, à proprement parler, de la semelle. Potentiellement, un travail de plusieurs années mais ont-ils plusieurs années devant eux?

 

Test & Learn

 

La société Scientifeet voit le jour en janvier 2016 et le développement commence immédiatement. Tant et si bien qu’une version 0 voit le jours dès le mois de mars de la même année. La philosophie de Scientifeet est la recherche (au sens large), tout autant que le développement. Toutes les innovations sont menées de front pour rapidement proposer un écosystème complet: le Podoclic (sorte de raquette à membrane flexible que l’on pose sur la plante du pied), le logiciel d’analyse des informations recueillies par le Podoclic servant aussi à la conception de la semelle, le suivi auprès de Prodways pour la réalisation des semelles. Au final, en 5 jours, le podologue reçoit la semelle prête à être utilisée par le patient. Soit exactement le même temps que la confection par le podologue lui-même.

Scientifeet assume totalement le côté « développement rapide »  et les réajustements que cela implique. Ils ont recours à des ß-testeurs et progressent par itération ce qui leur a permis d’être très rapidement sur un marché entièrement ouvert.

 

Un équipe d’horizons multiples

 

Les membres de l’équipe (une dizaine de personnes) sont recrutés pour leur expertise et leur autonomie. Certains ont la double casquette avec Prodways et le groupe Gorgé. Double casquette également pour l’ingénieur en biomécanique, détaché au LBA (Laboratoire de Biomécanique Appliquée) de Marseille. Le LBA travaille sur l’élaboration de L’Homme Virtuel, une modélisation de l’être humain dans le contexte médical du traumatisme à la récupération. L’approche de Scientifeet est globale et pluridisciplinaire.

D’autres recrutements sont à venir, notamment dans le domaine du Business Development et du développement produit, mais avec toujours ces impératifs: autonomie et esprit d’initiative.

 

Des premiers mois très encourageants!

 

Après la phase de ß-test, la commercialisation a commencé en janvier 2017. Le taux d’adoption et de fidélisation ne cesse de croître et vient le temps de tester les marchés limitrophes. Au bout de 8 petits mois de commercialisation…

Scientifeet, tout en restant humble malgré leur forte croissance, continue de perfectionner son écosystème, notamment en visant la simplification du processus d’acquisition et de transfert.

Encore plus important, ils ont su détecter un secteur peu développé du point de vue des hautes technologies pour s’assurer une position de leader immédiat. Leur développement à marche forcée, quitte à adopter parfois une démarche « test & learn », renforce leur position. Leur choix d’alliances avec des partenaires solides établit les bases d’une croissance saine.

Malgré des débuts plus que prometteurs, l’équipe de Scientifeet sait rester humble et même espiègle. Interrogés sur leur ambition secrète, ils avouent qu’ils ne seraient pas contre d’équiper en semelles une certaine personne dont le mouvement politique avait un rapport étroit avec la marche…
