Rails Girls comes to Paris to teach Girls to code in Ruby

Among all the great things that are coming to Futur En Seine, a French SXSW of sorts, is the Rail Girls event, which will host its first edition in Paris on June 15th & 16th. The event, which aims to give tools and a community for women to understand technology and to build their ideas, – attendance to the event is done by application, the deadline for which is June 5th. For girls learning to get a head start in coding, this is definitely a good 101 course. The event teaches sketching, prototyping, basic programming and provides an introduction into the world of technology.
The event series, which originally started in Finland but now hosts events throughout the world, is being brought to Paris by Geeklist, and, more specifically, by Audrey Stewart. The event is sponsored by Github – not surprising for the tech community sites to both be interested in getting the attention of the nascent tech community.
The event promises hands on coding time along with some key speakers from members of the tech community in Paris. I would definitely recommend that, for any girl who’s been following techcrunch for sometime but been putting off the hands on engineering part, this is definitely the Startup Weekend for learning coding.
