Throughout the month of August, the Rude Baguette will be running a series of interviews with some of France’s top and rising entrepreneurs, where they’ll share their reflections on their year thus far, their plans through the end of the year and how they manage their businesses through the August down period. In this installment, we talk with BIME CEO & Cofounder Rachel Delacour.
We Are Cloud – BIME is one of the fast-growing success stories in the space of cloud computing in France. Founded in 2007 by Rachel Delacour and Nicolas Raspal, their objective Is to transform the world of business intelligence (BI) by creating a simple-to-use, accessible, analytically sophisticated, cloud BI solution. With a client base that has, from the beginning, been highly international, BIME is now recognized by the likes of Google and Salesforce as one of the strongest leaders in the area of cloud BI. I recently asked Delacour to share her reflexions on BIME’s strong 2013 for our August founder interview series:
What have been the big accomplishments for Bime since the beginning of the year?
We have had several big accomplishements that were very proud of. Some of these include the laucnch of BIME V5, our newest and biggest release yet, receiving the Eurocloud and SFR awards, speaking on the same panel as Salesforce founder Parker Harris at Cloudforce Paris 2013, being a part of the Google Partner Summit in Mountain View, speaking at the American Marketing Association convention in San Diego, being selected for the 01 Business cover in February, etc… And of course, we have to mention starting today, our move to our new (finally) air conditioned offices… Whoo!
What are your goals for the end of the year?
Our big goal is to develop a physical presence in the US, which we’re working on. We’ll make sure to give you more details on that as it develops.
What have you learned this year that you think every entrepreneur should know?
To always keep in mind the concept of “good enough” to make sure you get things done . It’s important for enterpreneurs to.find the right balance between “enchantment” & “good enough” in order to ensure you’re in the best position possible to do things faster, better, stronger. 🙂
How does your company handle vacation & the August down period?
When my confonder and I take our 2 annual weeks off, the rest of the team tend to schedule their vacations outside of this period. However, there are enough of us in the team now to manage if other team members need to take time off during our break. When we return, the the rest of the team obviously takes more time-off. It’s important to stress though that the fact that most of our turnover comes from abroad, means we can never be closed.
