    In a recent case unfolding in the United Kingdom, two teenagers have been arrested for their alleged involvement in over a hundred cyberattacks targeting dozens of organizations. The attacks reportedly resulted in an estimated $115 million in damages. Thalha Jubair, 19, from London, and Owen Flowers, 18, from Walsall, are accused of being part of a cybercriminal network known as The Com. This network, comprising thousands of members worldwide, is notorious for extortion, swatting, and other cybercrimes. The FBI asserts that these young men were involved in a significant cyberattack against London’s transport system in September 2024.<\/p>\n

    The Rise of Teenage Cybercriminals<\/h2>\n

    The case against Jubair and Flowers is not an isolated incident. Authorities in both the UK and the US suspect that these teenagers have been involved in at least 120 cyberattacks under the ransomware operation known as Scattered Spider. These attacks, spanning from May 2022 to September 2025, have affected 47 American companies. Jubair’s involvement in cybercrime allegedly began when he was just 15 or 16 years old.<\/p>\n

    Their methods are sophisticated, involving initial contact with targeted companies’ customer service teams to reset passwords. The group then uses password hacking software to gain access to victims’ networks. Once inside, they encrypt data and demand ransom payments in cryptocurrency, threatening to delete the data if payments are not made. These activities have proven to be highly lucrative, but they now face severe legal consequences, with Jubair potentially facing up to 95 years in prison.<\/p>\n
