Back in August 2018, we had introduced <\/span>Archive Valley<\/a>: a French startup dedicated to providing archive footage to filmmakers<\/span>. It’s only been a few months but they have been very busy indeed. And they are starting year 2019 with an invitation at the Berlinale.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Getting the numbers up at Archive Valley<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Archive Valley is a service that provides filmmakers with access to archive footage. <\/span>Either by indexing the huge global resources available or by networking with archive researchers<\/span><\/span>. They work in the dark but have contributed to many films, documentaries, and tv series. <\/span>For instance, when the producers of tv series Narcos needed archive footage, Archive Valley provided them with a local Mexican researcher for specific footage<\/span><\/span>. Besides this series, the Archive Valley team has kept busy. They have contributed to <\/span>Dictators\u2019 playbook,\u00a0<\/a><\/span>1968 the year that changed America<\/span><\/a>, a Miles Davis documentary that <\/span><\/span>will premiere at Sundance<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span><\/span>Active Measures<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Academy awards 2019 nominees are coming out. The documentaries section has <\/span>been announced<\/span><\/span> and Archive Valley, once again, <\/span>has contributed<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>They have also participated in the making of one of the nominees for Best Picture but you’ll have to wait a little bit before disclosure<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Big plans for 2019<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

The year kicks off <\/span><\/span>really<\/span><\/span> well for Archive Valley as they have <\/span><\/span>been invited<\/span><\/span> to attend the Berlin Film Festival : The Berlinale<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>The European Film Market (EFM) <\/span><\/span>is staged<\/span><\/span> during the festival and, this year, 10 <\/a><\/span><\/span>film industry related startups<\/span><\/a> have <\/span><\/span>been invited<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This will provide a perfect platform to showcase their new features. <\/span>Now that Archive Valley has gained notoriety in the film industry, they have launched subscription plans to accommodate all needs<\/span><\/span>. Plans for 3, 6 or 12 months (for those with long-term needs) and smaller, project-based plans.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

User numbers have increased by 25% and 12 more countries have joined in (adding up to 82). Work has <\/span>been put<\/span><\/span> in the interface to provide even faster matching.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Obviously<\/span><\/span>, getting the word across to filmmakers is key therefore the team will attend other festivals this year<\/span><\/span>. Among the most prestigious are <\/span>Sundance<\/span><\/a>, and the <\/span>MIP<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fundraising <\/span><\/span>is expected<\/span><\/span> later on as Archive Valley’s is becoming the go-to platform for global archive footage<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
