\nFacebook made a lot of\u00a0news yesterday at their annual developer conference F8<\/a>, but other startups present at the conference are making big news as well. Happn<\/a>, an increasingly popular new dating app launched by former Daily Motion COO Didier Rappaport, have decided to\u00a0announce their San Francisco launch\u00a0at F8. \u00a0San Francisco would be the 6th major market for them, as their already operational in Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Sydney, New York and quickly gaining traction\u00a0in other markets as well.

\nIf you don’t yet know Happn, here’s how it works. \u00a0Say you see someone everyday in the supermarket that you’ve been wanting to talk with but you’ve yet to build up the courage to do so. Happn enables you to connect with that person instantaneously due to their super precise location functionality which enables you to connect with other users within a 275-yard radius. Of course, like other dating apps, you can digitally flirt as well using charms. The charms serve as the core of their freemium model, with users getting 10 for free, which can be topped up with 10 more for $1.99 (in the US).
\nOf course, like many dating apps using location, users may have concerns about privacy and safety. However, they’ve put some safeguards in place, including the ability to turn-off geolocalization and block undesirable suitors.
\nHappn has already grown to 2.5 million downloads since launching last year.
