As with the\u00a0Internet itself, the phenomenon began with a handful of Universities looking to share their knowledge, and quickly has spread into independent startups looking to ride the education revolution that will inevitably arrive in the coming years. Online education has taken many forms: the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P8pjd1QEA0c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> much-criticized<\/a>\u00a0private for-profit institutions in the US (e.g: Devry, University of Phoenix, etc.) who are providing sub-par education and matching existing\u00a0non-profit tuition prices. There have been too many &#8216;learn to code&#8217; websites to even mention(e.g: <a href=\"http:\/\/teamtreehouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TreeHouse<\/a>), and a few aggregators of university material (e.g: Khan Academy); however, the MooC market, much like 3D Printing &amp; Bitcoin, has yet to find\u00a0the benchmark business model that will define its evolution.<\/p>\n<h4>Enter Digischool<\/h4>\n<p><iframe title=\"Thanks to digiSchool.com, find all the digital educational content\" width=\"801\" height=\"451\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0Q-XKvMImO4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here in France there are a number of online education platforms that have begun to dig into the MOOC\u00a0space &#8211; among them, Digischool, who has brought together 4 million members since its founding in 2005, curates the best education content from around the world in order to provide a community-curated curriculum in a variety of subjects. Digischool even allows communities to\u00a0vote for\u00a0courses they want to see created in their &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/moocstarter.digischool.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moocStarter<\/a>&#8216; section.<\/p>\n<p>Now defined as a growing leader in France, Digischool has hired Alpha Capital&#8217;s Marc Oiknine, who has helped secure funds for <a href=\"http:\/\/rudelist.com\/prestashop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prestashop<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/rudelist.com\/festicket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Festicket<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/rudelist.com\/lekiosk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LeKiosk<\/a>\u00a0&amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/rudelist.com\/deezer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deezer<\/a>,\u00a0and also managed <a title=\"Criteo acquires Tedemis for \u20ac21 Million in its first acquisition post-IPO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2014\/02\/20\/criteos-first-post-ipo-acquisition-tedemis-forecasts-email-advertising\/\">Tedemis&#8217; acquisition by Criteo<\/a>. Oiknine will help Digischool cofounder Thierrry Debarnot to raise what he called a &#8216;significantly larger round of funding&#8217; than their <a title=\"digiSchool raises \u20ac3 million to revolutionize eLearning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2013\/06\/28\/digischool-raises-e3-million-to-take-on-new-opportunities\/\">previous $4 Million raise last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Digischool plans to roll out not only across Europe but potentially in the US &amp; Asia as well &#8211; and ambitious goal for a French startup &#8211; and will be digging deep into providing mobile\u00a0access to education for its users. Its goals are ambitious, but it has built up a reputation in France that it hopes to piggyback off of internationally, where it will butt heads with the likes of Khan Academy, Coursera, Udacity, and even TED.<\/p>\n<p>The education market is\u00a0trillion&#8217;s of\u00a0dollars in the US alone, and represents the single\u00a0largest source of debt for US citizens today &#8211; there is no doubt that Universities are going to adapt, evolve or die.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) movement hit the internet hard in the past years.
