The startup describes home an &#8220;elegant HD camera&#8221;\u00a0which can be used to livestream video to family, or keep an eye on the house while you&#8217;re not around.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qUydD9ycSWQ<\/p>\n<p>In previous years, Withings had delved into that security space, with their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.withings.com\/us\/baby-monitor.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smart\u00a0Baby Monitor<\/a>; however, with the increase in competition around home-monitoring systems, this is a logical choice for the connected hardware manufacturer. Home\u00a0is a big improvement to its predecessor, including air-quality sensors, sound recognition that can identify the crying of a baby, and the ability to manually turn the\u00a0outer wood cover in order to cover the lens.<\/p>\n<p>The design itself reminds me of <a title=\"Or\u00e9e Design expands its sustainable tech collection to include marble chargers &amp; wooden touchpads\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2013\/09\/12\/oree-design-announces-new-products-wireless-stone-chargers-wooden-touch-pads-more\/\">Or\u00e9e Design<\/a>,\u00a0which builds tech items with a twist, like their wooden keyboard,\u00a0their marble wireless charger, and other accessories.<\/p>\n<p>The price is currently set to 199\u20ac, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2014\/09\/04\/withings-home-baby-monitor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Engadget reports<\/a>, well under the nearly 400\u20ac \u00a0pricepoint of their smartwatch, <a title=\"Withings brings together \u201cconnected\u201d and \u201cfashion\u201d inside a smart watch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2014\/06\/25\/withings-brings-together-connected-fashion-inside-smart-watch\/\">which they announced this past June<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo Credit: Engadget This week at IFA, the Berlin consumer electronics forum that gathers top connected hardware &amp; electronics companies each year, Withings announced the launch of its latest connected home device, Home.
