The publication, which Clipperton suggests will be published quartlerly or bi-annually, hopes to provide a &#8220;a detailed view of the financing trends in innovation per country, sector, stage etc.&#8221; in the European ecosystem.<\/p>\n<h4>Some quick European-level figures<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/clipperton.net\/newsletter\/ClippertonEuropeanInnovationFinancingNewsletter-April2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12965\" alt=\"Clipperton Mega Investments\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/assets\/Clipperton-Mega-Investments.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a>25%:<\/strong>\u00a0the amount of money\u00a0invested in European Technology ($1.4Bn) in Q1 2013 in comparison to in the US.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2\/3<\/strong>: the proportion of European investments made in IT as a fraction of the total investment done in Europe<\/li>\n<li><strong>UK<\/strong> still leads the European investment ecosystem, followed by <strong>France<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Germany<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The German-language zone (DACH) received more investment than France<\/h4>\n<p>One of the ore interesting figures showed that the DACH (German-speaking parts of Europe) received a total of $232M in financing in Q1 2013, while France received $202M. Of course, the UK is still a powerhouse for investment, with $418M in investment &#8211; nearly the sum of the other two regions &#8211; during that same period.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that Deezer has received the highest fundraising of any European tech startup in the last 6 months ($132M), it seems that investment in France may be stagnating. We already knew that more than <a title=\"French Startups are getting invested in, just not by French VCs\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2013\/01\/21\/french-startups-are-getting-invested-in-just-not-by-french-vcs\/\">50% of investment in France came from foreign investors in 2012<\/a>, and it may be that foreign investment in France has slowed due to increased concerns over the instability of the Euro-zone.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The average deal size is also a \ufb01gure worth highlighting: with $6.5m, Germany tops the U.K. with an average deal size of $5.2m (setting aside Truphone\u2019s $119m transaction) and France\u2019s $3.7m&#8221; &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/clipperton.net\/newsletter\/ClippertonEuropeanInnovationFinancingNewsletter-April2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clipperton Finance Newsletter<\/a>, April 2013<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, it could be worse &#8211; the report suggests that, apart from a $109M investment round in the Spanish Softonic, an app download portal that competes with Download.com and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/tag\/Allmyapps\/\">Allmyapps<\/a>, Southern Europe has received little to know investment in Q1 2013 &#8211; there were less than 15 rounds that exceeded $1M.<\/p>\n<h4>Top 5 Deals in France in the last 6 months<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clipperton.net\/newsletter\/ClippertonEuropeanInnovationFinancingNewsletter-April2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12969\" alt=\"Clippterton Top France Deals\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/assets\/Clippterton-Top-France-Deals.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a>I was not surprised to see <a href=\"\/tag\/Appgratis\">Appgratis<\/a> among the top 5 investments in French tech &#8211; I&#8217;m sure the French government was also aware of this when they <a title=\"3 Things Fleur Pellerin could be doing instead of fighting AppGratis\u2019 battles for them\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudebaguette.com\/2013\/04\/12\/fleur-pellerin-startup-mommy-tells-apple-to-play-nice-with-appgratis-or-else\/\">swooped in to chastize Apple for booting them from the App Store<\/a>.
