If you’re not a passenger of the 60% of flights that have been cancelled during the Air France pilot strike, you might be happy to hear that Air France subsidiary Hop! has announced a deal with Drive, a French competitor to Uber who raised $2 Million earlier this year. The deal will offer all Hop! passengers a discount access to Drive chauffeurs when they land in Paris’ Orly airport.

While Uber still isn’t getting much love from the French, this is a big step for VTC (chauffeur) apps in France, as partnerships like these are usually reserved for Taxi drivers, as Challenges[fr] points out.

Drive differentiates itself from Uber and other apps by offering a ‘premium’ service that allows passengers to reserve rides in advance with a fixed rate – with Paris’ unreliable traffic jams (and strikes that block roads), this is pretty handy for Orly arrivals, whose fares can waver from 40 to 90€ based on traffic.
