AdTech startup Ebuzzing & Teads has sold off Overblog, a company it acquired in September 2010, to Fimilac’s digital subsidiary Webedia. The acquisition will give Webedia, which owns popular sites like Allocine, Purepeople & more, a combined traffic of more than 20 Million Unique Visitors in France, ranking it among the top 10 media sites in France in terms of traffic.

Founded in 2004 by Frederic Montagnon, Gilles Moncaubeig and Julien Romanetto, Overblog is a blogging platform like Blogger & WordPress. It was acquired by eBuzzing back in 2010 when eBuzzing was focused on content generation; the company has switched refocused its activity around AdTech – they merged with Teads earlier this year to become a video AdTech powerhouse.

Webedia has been on an acquisition spree since its purchase by Fimilac in May 2013. Traditionally a financial services company, Fimilac operates, among other services, the rating agency Fitch; however, with Webedia, they demonstrated a heavy interest in diversifying their activities, and have been snatching up high traffic, content-based websites over the past 7 months.
