After raising nearly $10M, Prestashop brings insights & analytics to eMerchants

Following a $9.3 Million fundraising earlier this month, open source eCommerce platform Prestashop released its version 1.6, including a new suite of analytics & insights for eMerchants. The 600,000 member community will receive business intelligence, predicative insights & analytics about users & purchases on their ste.

eCommerce enablers are getting a big boost in recent years – eCommerce is no longer Amazon, eBay et al., but an opportunities for individuals and small businesses to retail their goods online. Prestashop is by no means alone in this battle: their biggest competitors, Magento (acquired by eBay in 2011 for $180 Million) and Shopify ($100M Series C fundraising in Dec. 2013) have enough marketing dollars to make themselves known – and in the eCommerce game, it’s all about marketing.

Still, Prestashop’s open source platform has built a solid community, with developers building add-ons for the platform, giving eMerchants the opportuntiy to customize their shop however they like.
