I have a confession to make: my interest in the connected home is born purely out of an urge to live a single fantasy of mine, which is to bring a girl back to my place and have Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On” playing as we open the door, with the lights dim and the atmosphere perfect. Today, that dream got one step closer as FiveFive announced that its connected lamp, Holi, which has been on sale since last November, now syncs with both Spotify & Deezer to automatically set the mood based on your music selection.

In order to achieve this magical integration, Holi leverages its “Music for the Eyes™” technology, which creates synergies between music and light, along with the “Light Composer Pro” technology to choreograph light shows from music.

Currently on sale at Apple stores in Europe as well as online for 199€, the price may be a bit steep, especially for those who are looking at buying the Philips Hue, which sells for $199 in Apple stores in the US for a back of three bulbs; however, I’d love to do some IFTTT hacking and get this to trigger when I walk in the door.
